The first message

Internal note to your team: For the next two weeks, every new ticket arrives with an investigation note and a draft reply. Refunds are prepared but nothing is paid without your approval. Please mark each draft used, edited or rejected so we can judge it fairly. {your name}
Then
Run Support Ticket Investigator on those 10 closed tickets first and compare its notes with what really happened before you turn it on for new tickets.
  • Start on tickets already closed, then move to new ones.
  • Every refund and account change needs a person.

Costs and Break-Even

  • VPlain Foundation: $45 per user a month billed annually. Source, checked 30 Oct 2026.
  • EExample bill: Grok Bot Premium $30 + Plain Foundation $45 for one user (billed annually) + Linear and GitHub Free $0 = about $75 a month. Work out your own break-even

  • Savings needed to cover the tools = monthly tool bill. Anything you cancel or cut above that is money kept.
  • Months to recover the setup = setup price ($1,500 founding, normally $2,500) / (monthly savings found - monthly tool bill).
  • Write down your current monthly total in week 1 and compare in week 4. Use your own numbers, not ours.

When to Stop

Baseline first. Before you start, write down first reply time, time to resolution and tickets per person per week.

Day 30

  • More than half of drafts are rejected: fix the docs and refund rules you gave it before going further.

Day 60

  • Resolution time has not moved from the baseline: limit the bots to investigation notes only.

Day 90

  • Hours saved do not cover the tool bill: stop and keep only the help article updates.

E These thresholds are our rules of thumb, not benchmarks.

Rules to Follow

  • Refunds and consumer rightsRefund rights differ by country and by what you sell. Keep a written refund policy, apply it the same way to every customer, and keep a person approving every refund.
  • Data protection (EU and UK customers)If you hold personal data about people in the EU or UK, GDPR or UK GDPR applies: collect only what the job needs, tell people how you use it, and keep access to the connected accounts to the people who need it. Source.
  • Client confidentialityConnect only the accounts you or your client own, give each bot the least access it needs, and check client contracts for rules on where their data may be stored.
  • No income claimsNothing on this page promises income, savings or any business result. The value lines are labelled estimates with their basis. Bots draft and you approve. Source.

What Is Typical

  • Caveat. We have no verified, independent data on time saved per ticket for small support teams. Measure first reply and resolution time yourself.

FAQ

Can it refund customers?

No. It prepares the refund with evidence. A person approves and pays every one.

The listed bots use Plain. If you use another help desk, we check the fit on the call before you buy anything.
